Book Review – The Bookshop by Penelope Fizgerald

The Bookshop by Penelope Fitzgerald

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I didn’t know that you can import reviews from Amazon but here it is. Live and learn! Here’s my brief review – loved the book – it is VERY British and VERY literary. Meaning, little action…if you’re a writer it’s worth the read just for the writing. There’s a movie based on the book, too. Not sure where to find it, but it’s worth the watch.

Great book for lovers of books, bookstores, literary fiction, Britain, well, you get it. Might not be the best fit if your thing is rootin-tootin shoot-em-ups or ‘Is it love at first sight?’ romances. I loved it. The writing and insights are superb and a writer will appreciate it. I agree with other reviewers that it lags if you are into genre action fiction.
